The Club held a "TRY DRIVING DAY" on July 7th for the Dumfriesshire Hunt Pony Club as part of their Summer Camp.

British CarriageDriving were represented by Andrew Councell{Chairman} & Patti & Keith Atkinson.

The weather was HOT, the views EXCEPTIONAL, the Children BRILLIANT!!!

Brenda using Woody & Neddy demonstrated then helped the Children get to grips with rein handling.

Patti had fun explaining the functions of the harness & bits blindfolding the children and driving them so they could get a feel from the ponies prospective.

The children, who were aged from Tots to Teenagers, then climbed aboard to drive Harry & Matty for themselves, on double reins with Gordon & David, eventually driving a cones course & having a canter, the driver then swopped taking a turn at backstepping.

Afterwards Patti presented each group with goody bags kindly donated by Zilco.

All in all a great day was had by everyone, Children, Parents & ourselves.

Thank You DHPC for the invitation to come & promote our sport to the younger generation.

Check out our Facebook page & gallery for videos & pictures.

Carriage Driving in South West Scotland and North Cumbria.

Welcome to Dumfries & Galloway Horse Driving Club
Based in Dumfries and Galloway the club runs carriage driving events in south west Scotland and North Cumbria.

The club has been in existence for over 30 years, started by driving enthusiasts looking for more excitement than the showing classes that were the norm in the mid seventies.

The club is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, not just for the competitive ones looking for experience before moving on to national competitions, but for drivers looking for a bit of fun and those who have been there, done it and are now just looking to drive and help bring on new drivers.

Our aim over the next few years is to encourage new people to enter the driving arena and together, develop our skills and competences.
